ABOUT ME (November 18th, 2018)
Lorenzo Decaro was born in Noicattaro (Bari) and began to study music (clarinet and saxophone) at the school of the town band.
He debuted in the following parts:

- Dido and Aeneas, Purcell – Aenea
- Manon Lescaut, G. Puccini – Des Grieux

He reached the finals in the International Singing Contest “Città di Brescia 2006” (Baritone Giorgio Zancanaro was Foreman of the Jury).
Amongst his latest performances he played the part of Cavaradossi in the mounting of the Opera Tosca which went on stage during the opera season at the Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi, the Teatro Comunale in Treviso and Teatro Comunale in Pordenone.
He recently took part in the Gala Lirico at the Philharmonic Theatre in Verona, with great personal success. Lately he debuted with huge success among the public and critics, in the role of Des Grieux in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut at the Teatro Comunale in Modena and the Teatro Municipale in Piacenza. In the wake of this success, the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa booked him to take the role of Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca. It was such a success with the public, especially the second performance, that he was called to encore the famous aria in the third act.
Immediately after this success, he was invited to play the same part in the staging of the Tosca at the Teatro Grande in Pompei, a special event included in the Campania Teatro Festival 2010.
Since 2010 and in the years to come, the artist will be protagonist in operas at several venues:
- Macbeth by G. Verdi, Teatro comunale di Bologna. Conductor R. Abbado, director R. Wilson.
- Aida, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, conductor S. Ranzani, director E. Marini.
- Nabucco, Arena di Verona, Conductor J. Kovatchev, director G. de Bosio.
- Debut on April 22th 2012 at the Teatro alla Scala di Milano, as Cavaradossi, in Tosca.
- Cherubini’s Medea at the Theatres in Cremona, Como, Pavia and Brescia.
- Manon Lescaut at the Philharmonic Theatre in Verona.
- Macbeth at the Theatres in Modena, Piacenza and Bolzano.
- Traviata with Bari's province orchestra.
- Norma at the Theatre G. Verdi in Sassari.
- La Boheme at the Teatro Comunale in Firenze and Opera of Nice.
- Tosca at the Teatro Regio of Torino.
- Madame Butterfly at the Teatro Petruzzelli of Bari.
In recent years Lorenzo Decaro has also been involved in concerts and has taken part in the following performances:
- P. Mascagni’s Messa di Gloria in D major
- C. Frank’s Messa in F major
- G. Puccini’s Messa di Gloria
- G. Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle
- Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9
His current natural vocal evolution leads him to adopt a tenore lirico and tenore lirico spinto repertoire.
